When styling your scenes, it’s important to include objects for size reference. Most people can visualize the size of a glass of milk. So when the copies are placed next to them, you have a visual indicator of how big the cookies will be. This enticing beverage shot is actually a composite of 3 different shots. I photographed the shake by itself in order to minimize reflections on the glass which gives it that nice smooth shadow gradient which allows the color and the texture of the shake to shine through.

Did you know that color can influence human behavior? In addition to influencing our reactions, it can also evoke emotion.

Color in photography plays a huge role in composition as it can affect visual balance and add weight to certain visual elements. 

Achieving color consistency across your brand’s visual content is key. This is why giving your hex color code to your photographer is so important so that they can color match your specific brand color. I also use a Spyder Color Calibration tool to ensure accurate colors. 

Beyond backgrounds and packaging, styling is also an important choice, as thoughtful and intentional styling can significantly enhance brand messaging. 

In this shoot for Metavo, a wellness brand, I wanted to convey a vibrant feel by incorporating the brand’s signature orange hue. The minimal styling evokes a clean and healthy feel which is reinforced through the lighting which is bright and  crisp.

I had to post this image because I am literally obsessed with it and, it brings up the important topic of AI in photography.  
 
While AI is definitely changing the way that photographers work, it will not replace photographers entirely. Here’s why: 
 
AI lacks emotion, creative insight and most importantly, a photographer’s intuition. All of which are essential to the human experience.  
 
AI can be used as a tool to enhance imagery, work faster and thereby saving you time. But it can’t replicate a photographer’s unique visual perspective.  
 
I don’t know if you have tried working with the Auto Generate feature in Photoshop, but I have found that it either works very well or is so terrible that it completely misses the mark. When trying to add bees to this image, each bee took several painstaking tries, I had to be extremely precise and careful with my wording. This is why why using AI in my images, it is only to ever add an element that compliments the images.
